Grants and financial support


A very limited amount of funding will be available.

* L'Oréal-UNESCO Fellowships for Women in Science:

For recipients of a L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Fellowship, who are currently conducting research in the field of Ultrafast Phenomena, please contact jcampbell@dgc.loreal.com to inquire about possible funding to attend this conference.

The following 3 fundings are also available to young scientists. Please only apply for one of these 3 supports:

* Travel Grants for Young Scientists at PhD or Postdoc Level:

20 grants of 500 Swiss Francs each will be offered to young scientists at PhD level or within their first two years of postdoc, provided their paper is accepted for a presentation (oral or poster) at the conference. The results of the paper selection will be communicated at the beginning of April. The grants will be distributed on a first come-first serve basis.

Persons applying for these grants should send a letter to Monique.Bassin@epfl.ch, once they hear that their paper is selected. The application should contain a letter of support from the thesis supervisor or the group leader. Applicants are also required to register on line for the conference and enter their coordinates only.

* EPS Conference Grants for Young Scientists

The deadline is passed, no additional application will be considered.

3 EPS Conference Grants in amount of 350 euro each will be available.

In order to apply:

- Send your application via email to conferences@eps.org to
20 April 2012 including Curriculum Vitae and mention the title of the paper you submitted and its reference number.

* EPS Young Individual Member Travel Grants:

The deadline is passed, no additional application will be considered.

The European Physical Society makes a limited number of grants available to young Individual Members to attend a conference or school, which is approved by the EPS (which is the case for UP 2012). The amount of the Grant is 350 €, and is normally paid only once the written report has been submitted. Please apply prior 20 April 2012.

Conditions to apply:
- Open to young EPS Individual Members who are up to date in their membership subscriptions.
- PhD students in the first 5 years after their membership.
- Accepted contribution to the conference.
- Only one travel grant may be awarded to the same individual.
- Submit a CV, a list of publications and mention the title of the accepted contribution.
- Grantees must submit a written report following the conference.

The conference will also offer a poster prize:

* EPS Poster Prize:

The European Physical Society will give an amount of 250 € for a poster prize.
The poster must be prepared by the student.
The conference chairs will organise the competition. Further details will follow.
